Concept of FlashRunner

The core engine FR01ENG is the heart if the FlashRunner I concept. It has a serial RS-232 interface for communication with a computer and all necessary lines for In System Programming (ISP). Up to 32 firmware programs can be stored on a standard SD memory card.

The engine supports several thousands of devices from many semiconductor producers. The modular licensing model allows a customer specific subset of only those devices, that are needed.

The piggy back concept allows the extension of the core engine. FR01LAN provides a LAN interface and makes the device controllable via Ethernet and internet. This is the perfect solution, if the production facility is at a different location than the laboratory. An optional encryption facility provides a safe protection against software piracy.

FlashRunner I can be used as a stand alone In System Programmer in an ATE environment. FR01AT0 provides easy to handle control lines, that can be connected to an In Circuit Tester (ICT). Signals like STOP, GO, SUCCESS and FAIL allow an integration of FR01LAN into a wide range of testers at the end of the production line.

FR01M01 includes a multiplexer for up to 8 ISP targets, that are programmed automatically one after another. In case of a fail, the system stops and gives the operator the possibility to mark the failed device. A real gang programmer from SMH will follow in near future.

FR01PRO is the desktop version of FR01LAN for laboratories with integrated power supply and standard interface connectors.

For those companies that only have to program devices from one semiconductor producer, FlashRunner II may be the right solution. It is based on the same hardware platform as FlashRunner I and includes all devices of one producer. However, it cannot be extended to devices of other producers.

FlashRunner III is a low budget programmer with several restrictions. It is based on a different hardware platform and like FlashRunner II it is restricted to all devices of only one manufacturer. An extension to devices of other manufacturers is not possible. Although there is no LAN connection available. However, it also provides an interface for a stand alone mode in an ATE environment.
