ONYX Concept

Just saying, that Zevac are just developing rework stations, would not be suitable. Too complex are the underlying processes to just reduce them to this simple term. During the last years, the requirements have become stronger and stronger, and while some years ago it was sufficient to have just some tool to replace a BGA, the industry of today demands for technologies that allow replacement and selective soldering in the same precision and quality as the original manfacturing process.

The following example is showing the problem:

Highest quality of connections in combination with the best possible protection of the compnents are achieved by individual time/temperature profiles, that reduce the time of peak heat to a minimum:

The machines of the ONYX series of Zevac cover the complete range of processing steps for single boards or small series: application of paste, application of flux, soldering, unsoldering, non-contact removal of solder and all this on a manual, semiautomatical od even automatical basis.

Zevac does not sell only machines off the peg. The different models of the ONYX series differ in basic aspects. All machines however are extendable by a large number of options in order to accomodate them to the particular needs. A careful investigation is therefore necessary in orde to find the right product. The ONYX Series

ONYX 21 guarantees a precise positioning of SMD and BGA components for a very attractive price. It is designed for Pb-free soldering, offers a preheater 300x300mm, a 2000W top heater, placement with force and nitrogen connection. A solder cleaning system can be optionally connected with ONYX21.

ONYX 24 combines the advantages of the ONYX with a builtin solder cleaning system. The bridge design lets boards have an arbitrary depth, while in parallel offering a very good stability. Optional component pick up tools, fume extraction and many other options round off the system.

ONYX 25 basically comes with the same open design as ONYX 24, but the width of the boards can be up to 560mm. A moveable solderhead can be positioned at any place along the 560mm x-axis. ONYX 25 can be provided with an optional powerful 7000W double preheater of size 600x300mm.

ONYX 29 is just a small step away from full automation. A multizone preheater with 4 x 1500W and the VisualMachine (TM) user interface are standard. The whole range of SMD components (from 0201 to very large BGA's of up to 70x70mm) can be placed with superior accuracy. Component pick up can be automated. ONYX 29 can be provided with an optional non-contact solder cleaning system, an optional dispenser, tool changers and many other addons.

ONYX 32 is a fully automatic multifunctional platform with digital image processing. Components can be automatically picked up and positioned with highest precision, due to the automatically working component recognition system. One of the main applications is the fully automated rework process of SMD components without manual interaction of the operator. Two heads can be installed, like dispenser and top heater. Customer specific applications are possible on demand.
